Video work DiviNation addresses the question of political freedom and notions of social, cultural and personal identities. In this piece the excerpts of an ambiguous conversation abruptly interrupt meditative, ritualistic footage of a traditional Bosnian fortune-telling game. Bean-tossing, one of the oldest ways to predict future in Bosnia, uses supernatural forces and intuition to provide answers about one’s future and destiny.

The recordings of woman’s hands arranging beans raise questions about one’s identity and integrity. This image is confronted with a strange dialog between two men which, when asked certain political questions, aggressively warn against speaking of compromising subject matter. The camera, they are afraid, will not only witness their speech, it will immortalize it. The silence desired by the men is complimented by the implied speech of the fortune-telling beans.
